She said: "Scant is to account for the width of the thread when you iron the seam to the side or open esp when piecing lots of little pieces."<br /><br />I guess I can see that, because you do lose just a tiny bit of fabric into your pressed edge. So there ya have it. :)<br /><br />What time are you closing the Flickr group? :)Grandma Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09260178906088230163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4920631567765679370.post-2176422418205913932012-01-06T13:26:41.060-08:002012-01-06T13:26:41.060-08:00I don't understand the "scant" thing...I don't understand the "scant" thing either - and if we're always supposed to sew a scant 1/4" seam, then why don't the sewing machine manufacturers make a "scant" 1/4" foot? I can't adjust my needle position, so I really depend on my 1/4" foot to keep the seams right - and they usually are!Quilting with Jannettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16603960654710134226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4920631567765679370.post-86268002671237543392012-01-06T12:03:18.732-08:002012-01-06T12:03:18.732-08:00Beautiful work as always.
