Happy May!!!

How is it May 1st already?
I can't believe how quickly 2014 is flying by!
I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival
of grandbaby #7.
She must be warm and cozy where she is,
because she is clearly not in any hurry to be born :)
Hopefully this weekend I'll have pictures
of her sweet little face to share.

In the meantime I'll just keep sewing to pass the time.
You may have noticed the blog button
for the She Who Sews Challenge
on the upper right side of the blog.
You can click the blog button
to read more about the challenge.
I've joined the challenge and I'm absolutely in LOVE
with this fantastic fabric line by J.Wecker Frisch.
I can't show you what I"m working on just yet,
but I can show you a project bag that I have in the shop
that I made from the She Who Sews fabric.
You can see more pics HERE

Stay tuned for pics of my little Daisy May
and pics of my project for the challenge :)

How fun are these????

Adorable, right?
These are Jamberry Nail Wraps.
I was just recently introduced to these by a friend
and now I"m addicted.
I don't paint my nails very often
because nail polish, even when dry
can rub off on fabric. (yes it's happened to me)
These are vinyl and come in over 300 styles.
AND they don't rub off on fabric!

Have you ever painted your nails and ruined them
before you even leave the house?
Or jump in the shower only to get out
and find your nails are already chipping?
I've done dishes and housework and these are still adorable!

You just heat them a bit and apply some pressure
and Voila!
They last up to 2 weeks with no chipping or peeling!
One sheet of wraps is $15.00 and you get
2 - 3 manicures and pedicures.
WAY less than a salon manicure.
AND if you buy 3 sheets,
you get 1 free :)
I'm not selling these,
I'm just excited about the product so I wanted to share!

I'm in LOVE with these.
And even if you're having a bad hair day
your nails will always be cute!

If you live in the USA and would like a FREE SAMPLE

Cross My Heart :)

Cross Country Stitching Magazine April 2005
I'm not really sure when cross stitching became my obsession.
I mean,
I need to stitch.....

I pretty much stitch every single evening.
I can sit quietly next to my hunky hubby

while he watches whatever
"shoot 'em up everyone dies" man movie.
We are together,
both enjoying our favorite past times
and it works for us :)

This is my current WIP.
I stitched this design a few years back
for my daughter
and I've wanted to stitch it for myself ever since.
I love the little sheep with the hearts.
I mean seriously cute right?

Hope you are all finding time to be crafty.
It's good for the soul :)

I'm baaaack......

Well you may have noticed that I haven't been blogging
for a while.
I've been a bit busy :)
My beautiful daughter is due to deliver
our little granddaughter Daisy
any day now.
I went with a "Daisy" theme for the shower.

We had fun photo props......

It was a truly lovely party
and so many of her friends attended.
I can't show all the photos because there are just too many.

I had to buy this little jacket and high top tennis shoes....
I just had to.....

I also made her a dozen new flannel washcloths.
The tutorial for these is on the right hand side of the blog.

I took David to Bubble Fest at the Discovery Science Center
for his Birthday "Nana and Me" special day.

I took Gabriel to the movies for his
Birthday "Nana and Me" special day.

I'm still hand quilting Daisy's new quilt.....

I finished up 2 cross stitch projects......

And I made a new liner for Daisy's bassinet.

Jose and I went to Pioneer Town with
Star Yamaha Chapter 230.
We had 40 bikes on this ride.
Great people and yummy lunch :)

And because we've gone on 3 consecutive rides
we were officially voted in to the Chapter.

So I'm officially a "Biker Chick" now :)
Who knew?

Oh...and Barkley had a tumor removed from his face
and
the church we planted 10 years ago lost our lease
and so we have to close our doors.
That means I will be doing all the paperwork
to dissolve the church.
I'm excited to see what God has in store for us.
We attended a wonderful church this Sunday
and it already feels like home :)
God is so good!

Quilt top D O N E :)

I'm super excited that I finished the quilt top this weekend!
I have to stop by Joann's tomorrow morning
and pick up the batting I need.
I also need to finish up the backing
and I'm hoping to have that done by tonight as well.
The photos make the fabric looks pale green,
but it's actually pale teal.
This fabric is from October Afternoon for Riley Blake.
It's called Sidewalks.
Years ago I spent every waking moment
(and every single dollar)
on Scrapbooking and all the supplies that go along with it.
October Afternoon was my absolute favorite line of paper.
To this day, I actually have some paper packs
that I can't bring myself to cut in to.
So when I saw this fabric I swooned!
I know my daughter really likes teal
and she loves the look of vintage things
so this fabric line was a win win :)

The pattern I used is called Lemonade Lollipops by SweetJane.
It's totally FTS.
I used this pattern for the very first quilt I ever made
a few years ago for my granddaughter Evie.
You can see it HERE.
This quilt is for her new sister Daisy
who is due in April.
I can't wait to meet Grandbaby #7 :)
I have the binding all pressed and ready to go!
I'd better get back to work.....

And sew it begins....

I have to admit
that one of my favorite parts of quilting
is cutting all the fabrics into the different sizes.
I love the way they look
when they are all perfectly organized.

Of course,
in my eagerness,
I ended up cutting 4.5" squares
instead of the called for 4.25" squares
and cutting 2.5" strips
instead of the called for 2.25" strips.......
*ugh*

Anyhoo....
after re-cutting 36 squares and 36 strips
I'm ready to sew!

But not tonight.
I'm tired.

I can't wait to get started piecing this lovely quilt :)
I'll show you my progress tomorrow.
For now I'm going to sit on the couch
and watch my DVR'd Survivor episode.
