The Big Girls are here :)

I've been sewin' up a storm these days.
The project bags are keeping me busy,
to say the least.
One of my wonderful customers
contacted me a while back
about making a bag with a larger bottom
so that the Heaven and Earth design chart
she was working on could fit inside.
Those charts can have 90+ different colors of floss
so it made sense to have a "Big Bottom Bag".
I'm so glad that she was persistent and patient
and I finally got around to designing a new bag.
I love the way it came out
and more importantly
so did she :)
These bags are 11 1/2" tall and 13 1/2" wide
 with a 5" pleated bottom.
They are perfect for bigger projects :)
I'll be adding new fabrics as time permits.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Oh JOY!!!

Sometimes you come across a super talented person
and you just want NEED
to have a piece of their amazing artwork :)
Well a blogger friend of mine,
is amazingly talented herself,
but her 2 daughters are pretty ah-mazing as well!
Emily, makes these fabulous
hand stitched canvas wall art pieces
and Julianna makes the cutest sock animals!
I contacted Kimberly and asked her if Emily would consider
making a custom piece for my sewing room.
I'm SUPER excited with what she made for me!

The colors and fabric choices are perfection!
Just looking at it makes me happy.
THANK YOU EMILY!!!

I know I'll be pestering her for more canvases in the future!

I'm not getting older....I'm becoming Vintage :)

I wonder why it is that when we find Vintage items
our hearts skip a beat and we like to imagine
what life was like years ago
and who owned these items.
(or maybe it's just me)
I think people should be admired
and cherished as we age as well :)
Right?
Varicose veins are like a road map
to all the places we've been in our life.
And the wrinkles are evidence of
laughter and tears that brought us to this place in time.

Ok....enough deep thoughts for the day.
I wanted to share a few "new" Vintage items I've acquired.

These GORGEOUS sterling silver embroidery scissors
were given to me by my awesome hubby for
Mother's Day.
They are from Germany and very fragile.
I will just keep them safe and admire them,
but not use them.

I found this little box of threads at the Peddlers' Market
back in February.
Not sure how old it is
and the red thread is definitely not from the original set,
 but it's red.....enough said.

A few weeks ago the hubby and I discovered a "new to us"
Antique Mall close to our new church.
We stopped in last Sunday
and I found this darling Vintage needle book.
I love the bright colors and the graphics.
It's old and brittle so I handle it carefully :)

And yesterday we went to one of our favorite shops
and I saw these beautiful scissors in a case.
They were gray and dingy  but they had
and warm glow like sterling silver does
when it's tarnished.
I bought them for $18.00.
They are marked Grasoli Germany on the backside.
They have a wonderful grape vine pattern.
I brought them home and polished them
with my silver cloth and Viola!
They are sterling silver plated :)
They are sturdy and super sharp
so these will get used for sure!
From what I could find on Google
they are from the early 1900's.

God willing, one day I will have a sewing studio
with a place to display my Vintage finds :)

I just had to share :)

I just had to share this totally fun apron
that I finished for a customer today.
She mailed me the fabric
and I matched it with red and white polka dots.
 (what else, right?)
The fabric is called Fruit Ladies
by Elizabeth's Studios.
Just too cute :)
I laughed out loud when I noticed
the tattoo on the back of the Pear Bottom Gal.

Hope she likes it.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!!!

She Who Sews Challenge

I'm still here!
I know it's been a while since I posted,
but today is my day to show you what I've made for
the She Who Sews Challenge!
I made myself a new sewing tote bag.
I love the size of this bag.
It seriously carries everything
AND the kitchen sink!
I did some fun patchwork
to make the front and back panels.

I love this fabric!
This is the print I used for the lining :)
It's all so cute!
I used Phoomph for Fabric
to make the embelishment.
You can read more about Phoomph here
I bought mine at Joann's.
It's super easy to use and you can
do so many fun things with it :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy May!!!

How is it May 1st already?
I can't believe how quickly 2014 is flying by!
I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival
of grandbaby #7.
She must be warm and cozy where she is,
because she is clearly not in any hurry to be born :)
Hopefully this weekend I'll have pictures
of her sweet little face to share.

In the meantime I'll just keep sewing to pass the time.
You may have noticed the blog button
for the She Who Sews Challenge
on the upper right side of the blog.
You can click the blog button
to read more about the challenge.
I've joined the challenge and I'm absolutely in LOVE
with this fantastic fabric line by J.Wecker Frisch.
I can't show you what I"m working on just yet,
but I can show you a project bag that I have in the shop
that I made from the She Who Sews fabric.
You can see more pics HERE

Stay tuned for pics of my little Daisy May
and pics of my project for the challenge :)

How fun are these????

Adorable, right?
These are Jamberry Nail Wraps.
I was just recently introduced to these by a friend
and now I"m addicted.
I don't paint my nails very often
because nail polish, even when dry
can rub off on fabric. (yes it's happened to me)
These are vinyl and come in over 300 styles.
AND they don't rub off on fabric!

Have you ever painted your nails and ruined them
before you even leave the house?
Or jump in the shower only to get out
and find your nails are already chipping?
I've done dishes and housework and these are still adorable!

You just heat them a bit and apply some pressure
and Voila!
They last up to 2 weeks with no chipping or peeling!
One sheet of wraps is $15.00 and you get
2 - 3 manicures and pedicures.
WAY less than a salon manicure.
AND if you buy 3 sheets,
you get 1 free :)
I'm not selling these,
I'm just excited about the product so I wanted to share!

I'm in LOVE with these.
And even if you're having a bad hair day
your nails will always be cute!
