It's hard to believe that we are down to 7 Saturdays until Christmas. I've been working on all kinds of projects for the family that unfortunately I can't post about because they may look at my blog and see them. So I decided to share some wine bags I made for my sister in law the last 2 years. She and I both have a deep love for German nutcrackers, but they are very expensive so I found some wonderful nutcracker cross stitch patterns at crosstitch.com and started stitching. The older I get the more I love the idea of giving gifts that will last long after I am gone and with every stitch I put my heart into them. When I was finished with her nutcracker I was trying to think of what I could do with him - other than have him framed. The size of the finished cross stitch (4" x 11") seemed perfect for a wine bag! So I bought some red velvet, some satin seam binding and some gold braid and voila the Nutcracker King was born! Last year I made her a different one with "Henry" the nutcracker. Wine bags make great gifts (with a nice bottle of wine inside) and they can be used year after year for decoration. And if you time it right, you may even be invited to share a glass of wine with the recipient! It's a win win!

ReplyDeletestop reminding me how little time I have. LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd your work is just fab times two
I'm with Regena! I get a little worried when I read how many crafting weekends left. I started mentally chopping down my list of people to craft for since I have so little time to get my crafts done.
ReplyDeleteBy the way I love Henry and the wine bags are a great gift idea. Have you ever tried a prim stitchery? I always mess up the pattern when I try to cross stitch but I love prim stitcheries. They are so easy and require little brain power to complete, which is good for me after a day of teaching.
Ok I'm gonna go look for prim stitchery and as soon as I finish up my Santa I'm gonna try to do one of the cross stitch bows. I'm just in love with the one you did with the chickens..
ReplyDeleteJill - I haven't tried prim stitchery, but I'm afraid to take on any new hobbies. I have enough cross stitch patterns to last me until I get too old to stitch :)
ReplyDeleteAmy - you can usually find the one with the chickens on ebay. That's where I found mine :)
