They call this time of year - the "bers".....

Blackberry and apple crumble - the hedgerows are brimming with free fruit in September. As the nights draw in and the weather begins to turn colder, it is lovely to warm up with blackberry and apple crumble and lashings of custard.

ReplyDeleteliving here in arizona, the 'bers' are knowing that we will soon have a welcome relief of the intense heat from a long summer! halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas are perfect and we can actually be outside enjoying the weather!

ReplyDeleteBest thing about the "ber's"... a lot of the farms open up around here. So, the last couple months of the year mean harvest festivals and cutting down your own trees. It's great, especially after being cooped up in the house for almost 3 months!

The Ber's - my favorite part of the ber's is when you first realize the season has changed, be it a coolness in the air, the fading of flowers, the rustle of dry leaves blowing..that moment you just know it is now fall.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway! September and October are my fav months. It's still warm during the day but usually don't need a/c, pumpkins are out, more time for sewing and crafting, leaves chane...it's just a great time.

You do not have to be with family to feel love and joy as so many people open their hearts and share the joy and love that they feel this time of year. ReplyDeleteI always liked the bers because the kids were into so many things at school. I could go to so many things with them. Football games where my son played and my daughter was in the marching band.

ReplyDeleteOhh they are gorgeous! Here spring starts in september, which is a beautiful time of year, then it gets a bit hot and humid for me!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about the "bers" are the autumn colors. All the shades of reds, yellows, browns, and greens are my favorite of all color combinations. There's a large grove of hardwood trees that I see on my drive home from work each day, and I look forward to watching their colors change. Some years those leaves just sparkle with autumn color!

It will regularly reach 100F+ here, so September means the weather is cooling down, and while it's never really *cold* here in December, it's definitely enough to make you say "brrrr!" when you leave for work in the morning! :) thanks for the chance to wiN!

ReplyDeleteIt is almost about the bers.. but we were a family of 7 children. We used to lay on the floor to watch tv at night. We weren't allowed to do so if the month had R in it. So May, June, July and August were okay. The rest were too cold to lay on the floor.. ?? September?? Please.. Mom didn't say we couldn't unless it was December or January LOL. But that rule would always pop out in those two months.

ReplyDeleteOoo lovely fabric giveaway!!! The 'bers' - more like the 'brrrrrrs'. It gets cool then cold the downright freezing by the end of the 'bers' but I do like when we cross over into the 'arys' - it means fresh happy spring is on it's way!
