Sewin, sewin, sewin :)

It's been a wonderfully busy week over here.
Just me and the sewing machine humming along :)
I've had some custom orders
that were fun to complete.
Today the last package will ship out.
I've also been busy working on a project
that I can't share just yet.
It's killing me because I'm terrible at keeping secrets.
I'm hoping to have all my ducks in a row
by 4th of July weekend.
I hope you'll stop by and see what's new.

I've also been working with Christmas fabrics.
Yes......Christmas already.
I can't share them yet, but soon as well :)
I also have almost completed my cross stitch
for the Tammy bag "Plan A".
This photo is the front pocket.
As soon as I have the back pocket stitched
I'll sew the bag.
I can't wait :)
I do love me some red!

My Man :)

It's been such a busy few weeks that I totally forgot to share
the annual Father's Day card :)
This year I decided a Lord of the Rings theme was in order.
It's fun to have 2 girls that get added into the mix these days.
I wonder what the grandkids will think one day
when they are older and see all the cards.
I know they loved it last year when they were all Minions.
(To see the cards I've made for previous Father's Day click HERE
and HERE)
The hubby was a happy camper.
He said I outdid myself this year :)
I'm just glad he is happy with it.

On Saturday the hubs actually had a day off for a change,
so we headed out on the motorcycle
for a day filled with Swap Meets and a yummy lunch.

I used to think that at one point you'd just run out of things to talk about,
but after 37 years together, we never run out of words.
Who knew?
I love this man
and I am so blessed :)

Completion :)

There is something SO wonderful about completing something :)
I finished this quilt for my niece 3 days before her graduation.
(That's got to be a new record for me!)
The fabric is "Pure" by Sweetwater
and I used a pattern from the book "Sweetwater's Simple Home".
I love the way it came out.
The fabric is so soft and wonderful :)

For the backing I just chose random scraps
to break up the solid backing.

I hand stitched the label :)

And added the date too.

This is only the second quilt that I've actually
"quilted" on my sewing machine.

I couldn't forget to "Thank" my helper, Arthur.
He's in charge of quality control :)
And he matches the colors so nicely too!

And speaking of completion.....
Congratulations to my gorgeous niece
for graduating from Cal Poly Pomona!
So proud of her :)

Tammy Bag Blog Hop

Hello everyone and welcome to
the Tammy Bag Blog Hop!

A big "Thank you" to Madam Samm
for hosting as well as designing this darling bag pattern!

Today I'm showing you my "Plan B" bag.
All this time I've been working on a cross stitch piece
that would have been the focal point of my Tammy bag.
You see I mistakenly looked at July
on the calendar instead of June
and thought my day to show my bag
was Wednesday the 17th.
Guess what?
In the month of June,
the 17th is Monday!!!!

PANIC!!!!

I knew I'd never finish the cross stitch on time.
So I decided on polka dot denim
with red gingham lining.
I used some fun ribbon and crocheted flowers.
I love this little bag
but I'm planning on finishing up the original design
in my head in the next few days.
I can't wait to show it to you when it's done :)

Until then, I hope you enjoy
my denim Tammy :)

Don't forget to check out all the other
crafty ladies showing their bags today as well :)

Needle and Thread.....

I can't believe I'm almost done with my Cottage Welcome!
Now I have to paint my entryway
so it will be worthy of this beauty :)

And I had some more fun with needle and threads......
I made six mug organizers and 4 project bags
this morning.
And I need to cut and sew the wool felt hearts
for the new bags.
I have  a few more bags cut out
but I'm waiting for zippers to arrive.

I actually have one more project to share,
but I need to wait until Monday to show you.
It's a gift for my beautiful niece who is graduating
from Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday!
(I'm secretly VERY proud of myself for being done ahead of time
and not stitching frantically the night before :)

Mission Accomplished :)

My beautiful Sister in Law celebrated her birthday recently.
She asked me to make her a tote bag
 to hold her crochet-in-progress.
She picked out the fabric from my stash.
I paired it with brown and white polka dot canvas.
I decided to surprise her and
make her a matching pouch
for her hooks and scissors and such.
You can read more about it HERE.
Unfortunately, I made the hook bag first
and when it was time to make the big bag
I didn't have enough fabric left.
Don't you hate it when that happens?
Well, the shop that I bought it from no longer had any in stock
and I couldn't find any on Etsy or Ebay.
But you've gotta love the internet
because I found 2 yards from an online quilt shop
and Voila'......Mission Accomplished :)

Quiet Restoration and a Few Minions

I'll admit,
I have trouble being still.
I seldom watch movies or TV.
I feel like it's time wasted that I could be doing something else.
As a child I would sit with my back to the TV
making clothes out of kleenex
for my tiny plastic doll.
This morning I was faced with a dozen choices
of how to spend my day.
There always seems so much to do.
I really felt that I needed some time to just rest a bit
and watch one of my favorite movies....
and some stitching, of course :)

Sometimes we can just get too busy for our own good.
A few hours of rest was exactly what I needed this morning.

Psalm 23:2 "He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul"

Fabric Frenzy

Yesterday I received a 35 pound box of fabric!
I know......right?
When it arrived,
I was so exicited!!!
Connecting Threads offers boxes of scraps
to Non-profit organizations
so I applied for our church's sewing ministry.
"Crafty Chicks" is having a sewing day this coming Saturday
June 8th from 10am to 1pm.
Bring you own machine if you have one,
if not, we have a few spares.
If you live in the area,
please stop by and join the fun!
We'll be at Branches Christian Church
8381 Katella Ave Unit J
Stanton, Ca 90680.
I'd love to meet you!
So I spent a few hours just organizing and stacking
the fabric that was stuffed into our goodie box.
How cool is that?

In other fabric news,
I finished up 4 new sets of potholders
for the shop.

And 10 new project bags :)

The faces on these Owlies just kills me.
Seriously how cute are they?

So who won the Etsy bucks?

Congratulations Lynn S. !!!
And a big THANK YOU
to everyone who participated!

There are 139 "likes" on my Facebook page
but I'm going to round the prize up to $20.00
for Lynn to spend in my shop!
( I like round numbers, don't you?)
I've contacted Lynn by email.

I have some exciting things coming up very soon
that I can't wait to share with you all.
I hope you stay tuned :)
