ooh la la :)

Little by little we are getting settled in.
It's taken longer than I thought because
we've been so busy with our Etsy business
that we've hardly had time to decorate.
So far I've managed to make curtains
for the eat in kitchen area
and dining room.

This fabric is all from Breath of Avignon by American Jane.
I've been hoarding this fabric for years
and I'm so happy that I finally have
the perfect rooms to showcase it.

My hubby painted the walls in a pale yellow.
The perfect backdrop for the french blues
and of course the reds :)

Well that's all for now.
Back to work!
Oh, by the way,
I'm having a give away on my Facebook page right now.
Hop on over and enter to win a project bag.

The give away ends Saturday 7/23

The Promises of Grace

There are people that God uses
to make a change in your life.
These people may not even be aware of
how much you appreciate them.
Cindy is one of those people.
She leads a discipleship group
that I am part of.
She has shown us that you can learn to memorize
scripture at any age. (No excuses :)
She also leads a bible study
that we just finished up today called Promises of Grace.
We went through a book by the same name
by author Bryan Chapell.
Talk about a book that makes an impact in your life!
I highly recommend this one!

Anyhoo....
She saw my big bag that I carry all my books in
and asked me to make one for her.
I was honored that she asked.
I found this fabric called Expressions of Faith.
I used the quilt panel for the outside pockets
and I love that one of the panels
has scripture about grace.
Seemed perfect to me :)
I'm going to give it to her on Sunday.
I hope she likes it :)

I'm feelin' Blue.....

Isn't this "Flow Blue" fabric  designed by Michelle Palmer
for Red Rooster fabrics just gorgeous???
I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love.
The bonus has been
that through my love for sewing
I have met some incredibly talented women.
Michelle is one of those talented women for sure!
If you read my blog regularly, you've seen her
hand drawn pen & ink artwork.
You can check out her etsy shop HERE.

She asked me if I would make her a bag
made from her new fabric line.
Of course I said YES!!!
It's like opening a new box of crayons
when I get to play with new fabrics.
She sent this amazingly delicate hand stitched lace.
Gorgeous right?

And the little birds on this print are just adorable :)
It's hard to pick a favorite from this line.
I love them all!
If you love it like I do,
check with your local quilt shop.
Happy Sewing!

Gingham Apron Sew Along part 1

So I joined the Gingham Apron Sew Along
(see the button on the right hand side of the blog for more info)
and I finally picked my fabrics today.
I was originally thinking red and yellow gingham,
but this rooster fabric changed my mind for me :)
So red and black it is!

And I HAD TO add jumbo red ric rack, right?

I'll post more pics when it's done.
I haven't sewn an apron for myself in years.
Should be fun!

Flower Power :)

It's finished! It's finished!
This darling little quilt for my sweet Minion Sofie :)
Who is that handsome guy hiding behind my quiltie?
My hubby is the bestest!

OK....
back to the quilt.
I had the quilt top finished for quite some time
and then I finally got around to sending it out for quilting.
I mailed it off to Donna's Lavender Nest.
Didn't she do an AMAZING job?
I love the way she quilted flowers that mimic the flowers
of the orange boarder and backing fabric.
This is the first quilt that I've sent out to be machine quilted
and it won't be my last.
Her service is excellent and Donna is a dream to work with!
Here is a photo of the backing fabric.
I made a matching pillow case as well :)
I stopped by my son's house last night
and Sofie thanked me again for her new quilt.
I love my Minions!!!

Back to the beginning......

Some of you might know this,
but when I started blogging,
I was joining every apron swap I could find.
I met some life long friends that are now
a big part of my daily life :)
Although I don't swap aprons anymore
I decided to join the Apronista's Apron Sew Along!
Connecting with old friends from "the old days"
of swapping will be so much fun.
This time the apron stays with me.
This is the pattern I have chosen.
No fabrics picked out just yet.
This deserves a special fabric shopping day all it's own!

I'll keep you updated as it goes along.
Hop on over to the Apronista's website and join the fun!!!

It's Shark Week!!!

My sweet Caleb turned 9 years old on the 22nd.
It's so crazy how fast children grow.
Amazing that I don't seem to age at all....HA!

He's been asking me forever....FOREVER
for a shark.
I stumbled across McCalls M7103 a few weeks before his brithday
and I knew I had to make it for him;
(His dad, my son, isn't all that excited about a huge shark in
their small home, but hey, that's what Nana's are all about...right?)
Just look at that face!

Now his big brother Elijah wants a Hammer head shark......
I can already see my son's face when I show up with that "little" beauty :)

Even my hubby got in on the fun!

Now I need to finish up Sofie's quilt this week
and I'll show you pics of how adorable the quilting turned out.
Have a lovely week!!!

Home School Organization :)

A few weeks ago my grandson David (age 7)
called out from my bathroom-
"Mommy....you need to come and see this!!!"
Of course you have to wonder what he's
so excited about, right?
Well it was my mug organizer with all my make-up brushes.
I usually put it away when the Minions come over
just in case one of them decides to get "artistic" with the brushes.
Well I forgot this time and he thought Nana made the
coolest thing he's EVER seen!
He asked me to make one for him with Avengers fabric
and of course, Evie needed one too.
They wanted them for the home school desks.
Pretty awesome :)

Makes my Nana heart happy to see them
using something I made for them
and I hadn't really thought about how handy
they would be for home school as well as crafts.

This and That

It's a brand new year
and I'm trying my best to really make a dent
in my pile of unfinished projects.
First up is the baby quilt that I started last year
for my sweet little Miss Daisy :)
She'll be a year old in May,
so I need to get this one done.

Since I showed you the thimble pads I use
 for embroidery and general stitching,
I thought I'd show you the only thimble that works for me
 when I'm hand quilting.
It's the Protect & Grip Thimble by Clover.
The metal end is perfect for pushing
through layers of fabric and batting
and the rubbery part grips your finger nicely
and still allows you to "feel" your fabric.

I also wanted to show you Miss Evie
and her baby "Quinn"
(she has changed her name several times)
with their matching jammies.

I found a few scraps of flannel and made a pair
of summer jammies for Maddie :)
She'll need them when we have sleep overs.....

I've been blessed with lots of orders in the shop
that are keeping me busy as well :)

I hope your year is off to a good start!!!

Getting back to my old habits :)

I'm not a New Year's Resolution kind of girl.
But I want to get back to some of the things
that make me happy.
Some of you may know this already,
but my hubby, our son, our son-in-law,
our nephew, and who ever else wants to join in,
get together at our house on Friday nights
to smoke cigars, watch movies
and solve the world's problems over coffee :)
(They smoke outside.....of course)
I used to sew on Friday nights
but this past year I've been so busy with my etsy business
that I've been too tired to sew.
But not tonight!
I finished up these 2 pajamas for
Evie and Sofie.
I used Butterick B6123
that comes with the matching pattern for their dolls.

Don't you just love this flannel?
I was so happy to find it in both purple and pink.
Evie loves purple and Sofie loves pink.

The dolls already received their jammies on Christmas Eve.

I'm hoping to get a picture of the girls with their dolls.
Maybe their Mommies will be nice enough to take
a photo or two for me :)

Meet Madeline :)

So this is Madeline :)
She came home to live with me today.
(Hey....don't judge)
I don't think I'm too old to play with dolls....yet.
If the hubby can buy a train set and a slot car track
"for the grandkids"......
then I should be able to buy a doll
to play with the granddaughters too :)

As you can see,
I have plenty of patterns to sew for my girl Minions
and their dolls.

These are Sofie and Evies dolls.
I have a feeling that they will get along just fine
with Madeline.
They very much enjoyed their Christmas dresses.

And I also made matching jammies for them.
I guess I'd better get busy sewing some clothes for Madeline
so that she doesn't get jealous :)

Stitchy Goodness

I stitched up these 3 tiny owl pendants just for fun :)
I love to be creative,
and just do whatever I feel like doing.
I guess it's just who I am.
I listed them in the shop today
and I hope they all find good homes.

I spent the morning sewing up these 8 new mug organizers.
They make such versatile gifts.
I enjoy picking the different fabrics
and combining them.

I realized the other day
that I make quite a few of these,
but I don't actually have one of my own.
Now these next 2 are my current favs
and I need to decide which one to keep.

The She Who Sews button fabric is adorable!
And the Primitive Pennies is super cute too.
AND they are both black and red.
Tough decisions :)
Which one would you choose?
