Almost done....

This was my first time working with a jelly roll

and I have to say that I can't believe how much "fuzz"

comes off of those pinked edges.

I've been using one of those lint rollers

with the sticky paper to roll my clothes

every day when I'm done sewing.
Just look at all this fuzz and thread on the rug

outside my sewing room.

And that's just from 1 day!

I'm tracking it all over the house on the bottom of my socks.

I have to wear socks when I sew

because my feet get cold and I can't sew with shoes on.

I know, I know,

it's just me right?

Well now that I have most of the quilt top done,

I can vacuum and dust

and have a few days of clean floors

while I wait for the fabric for the border and binding

to get here from etsy.

Now it's time to clean my kitchen

and finish the laundry :)

1934 progress report :)

Well I have 6 of my 12 blocks completed.

I'm having such a good time making these

because each one is different.

I don't really enjoy doing the same thing over and over.

The 4 blocks I made yesterday didn't require the special

45 degree ruler that these remaining blocks needed.

I went to M & L Yardage yesterday and found this little beauty.

All I knew was that I needed a 45 degree triangle ruler.

This was the only one they had.

So I bought it and brought it home.

It had a little folded paper with it that tells you how to use it.

I read it.

I read it again.

and again.

Still couldn't figure out what to do with it.

And then it came to me.....

YOUTUBE.com!!!

I went to YouTube and found

 the Creative Grids 45 Triangle Strip Ruler

and in a matter of minutes I was amazed

at all the cool stuff you can do with this!

If you are planning on working with 2 1/2" strips

in a quilt, I highly recommend getting one of these!

Years ago, before my wonderful hubby

"retired" me to a full time domestic goddess,

I worked in an office.

Every year at Christmas time we would

be overrun by sugary sweets.

Of course the favorite was the Sees Candies Sampler.

Some of those chocolates were to die for.

Some.....not so much.

I always hated those people....and you know who you are,

who would take a bite and if they didn't like it

they'd put it back in the box with a bite missing!

Like someone is really going to eat that one!

THROW IT AWAY PEOPLE!!!

Anywhoo...I had a girlfriend with long acrylic nails

who would stab the chocolates from underneath with one of her nails

to see if she wanted to eat it or not..

Can you say "gross"?????

So....about the idea of a sampler,

I am totally loving this sampler quilt I'm working on!

Every block is different and that is making it

VERY exciting!

It's fun learning how to do these blocks

one at a time!

The hard part is that I'm using a jelly roll

so I'm limited by the fabrics that came in the roll.

I had one strip of fabric that had graphics

 and words that I was hoping would work

on this block

but as you can see,

it's like the one  that somebody

took a bite out of

and put back in the box.

I took the entire block apart and decided to use

some of the leftover pieces to make it work.

Even with using 2 different scraps

I still like it better.

I can't wait to make the next 8 blocks

but I need to pick up a different ruler

so they will have to wait until tomorrow.

It's raining here today and the hubby took my car to work,

(no motorcycle on rainy days)

so that means I have to stay home....and sew :)

Poor me.

Finish it up February?

This is my birthday week and my fabulous hubby

gave me cash to spend any way I like.

So naturally I bought fabric.

But you KNOW I'm going to make

that money go as far as I can!!!

I was on ebay the other night

and on a whim I bid $24.99 on a jelly roll

of Cosmo Cricket "Circa 1934".

And quess what? I won!

So this beauty showed up on Saturday

and I could barely control myself to get started.

I'm making the sampler quilt on the cover of the book.

I have all the strips pressed and cut

and now it's time to get started piecing.

While I was cutting my lovely fabric

it occured to me that I have several quilt tops done

and I haven't even begun to finish them.

I need to get my butt in gear

and get them all finished.

I'm hoping to finish them all in February.

We'll see how that works out...ha!

I also started on a new cross stitch pattern

last night. I do love me some chickens!

This pattern is fun because the chickens are in front

of a row of quilts!

How perfect is that? 

Anyone else have projects to finish in February?????

An old romance, rekindled.......

My love for scrapbooking never died,

it just kind of went to sleep for a while.

I used to spend every waking moment scrapping

and dreaming of page layouts while I slept.

My daughter called my craft room

"the store" because she knew if she needed anything

most likely I would have it here.

For the past 2 weeks

I've felt patterned paper calling out to me.

So last night I answered the call!

I did this 2 page spread of photos from 2006.

Although I love the super cute pages

with 1 photo and tons of embellishments,

those are just not practical for me.

I have WAY too many photos for that.

I'm only 6 years and 4 grandchildren behind

*sigh*

And.....

I finished my "Bee Line" cross stitch last night.

I do love me some bees :)

This coming Saturday my dear friend Gena is having a birthday :)

This is a milestone birthday as she turns 25!

(for the second time :)

I bought this retro kitchen fabric months ago

just waiting for her birthday to finally get here!

Don't you see fabric sometimes

and you just hear it screaming someones name?

No?

Just me then....

I bought some sage green canvas

for the body of the apron

and used orange cotton pin dots for the trim.

I used one of my Sweetwater labels

that says "life is good" on the hip.

I added some large sage green rick rack

because you can never have too much rick rack right?

I sure hope she likes it.

I'm making a pillow for my living room

out of the scraps of my Hometown fabrics.

This is all I have left and I'm going to use every morsel!!!

I also fed my addiction just a bit more this week.

Look what the mailman brought me!

I had to browse around over at Cotton Charm

one more time and picked up some more fabric

and 3 more patterns and 26 yards of rick rack.

(does that seem like a lot of rick rack?)

I quickly organized my rick rack and now it's ready

for whatever project might need just a little "something" :)

I'm pretty sure I'm done shopping....
