My dog ate my homework......

Growing up, we never had a dog,
so I always thought it was a lame excuse
when one of my classmates would
tell the teacher that his dog ate his homework.
Well I can honestly say that my thoughts
have changed recently.
You see, my dog is part Shi-Tzu, part Bichon
and apparently part billy goat.
He LOVES to eat paper.
I've known this since we brought him home.
I do my best to keep paper away from him.
He's eaten more coupons than I care to admit.
Having said that,
in the 4 1/2 years he's lived with me
he has NEVER touched my cross stitch supplies.......
until now.
Last week he ate 2 packages of hand dyed floss
and a hand made button.
This week he ate a brand new Lizzie Kate chart
complete with the tiny buttons!
(to be fair, he did leave 2 buttons uneaten)
So I realized that I needed to make a project bag
to hold my chart, floss, scissors and magnetic board.
Yesterday I made this fun little bag!
It measures 11 1/2" square.
Just perfect for even my larger Bent Creek charts.

I've had this darling chicken print fabric for a while now.
I stumbled across it on ebay and they only had 1/2 yard.
So I've been keeping it safe for just the right project.
The salvage reads "exclusively for Joann's".
If anyone knows where I can get more,
please let me know.
I quilted it together with orange gingham
and cut out and stitched
an orange felt heart as a zipper pull.
Now all my goodies are safely put away
and if my crazy dog decides to suddenly try to eat it,
I'll be listing him in my etsy shop the next day!

  1. WOW Obi Wan...quick and good that is a win-win situation :-)! I totally LOVE the project bag. I think we should make this our next 'Crafty Chicks' project. It will totally help all of us that still fear the zipper :-), plus we will get a cute bag to stash our patterns, etc when we are working on a project :-)!
