Dare To Dresden Hop and Giveaway!

Welcome to Day 4 of the Dare To Dresden Hop!

For this hop I decided to make
a MUCH needed new ironing board cover.
I made three 6" Dresdens
and embroidered "wash" "press" "repeat"
in the centers :)
I used my old stained nasty  gently used cover
as the pattern.
Taking that sucker apart took way longer
than making the new one :)
Making Dresdens is totally FTS, (fun to sew)
but attaching them by hand is not my favorite thing.
I do love the final result,
so I guess it's worth it in the end.
I'm one of the strange few that actually enjoys ironing
so this new cover just makes me happy :)

Now....on to the giveaway!
One lucky winner will receive
3 fat quarters of  Cotton Blossoms by Bonnie & Camille
and the Ruffle Potholder pattern by Sweetwater!
Anybody want this?
For your chance to win just leave me a comment
and tell me what crafty goodness you would work on
if time and money were no object.
You don't have to be a follower to enter,
but if you are....
leave a SEPERATE comment letting me know
for a second chance to win.
You have until Sunday Feb 3rd to enter.
Winner will be announced Monday Feb 4th.
Easy peasy :)

Don't forget to check out all the other
crafty bloggers showing their lovely Dresdens today!

  1. I'd make more things for my home and kids, that would never happen though as being blessed with 4 daughters means I'll never have "spare" time. Seriously, I would attempt more complex patterns as at the moment my mantra is " finished is better than perfect".

  2. I so so so want to win that fabric! This week I also made a new ironing board cover but mine is so much simpler! Love yours and how it matches your colour scheme in the kitchen! I now have been living mine out in the kitchen as I think it enhances it rather than look like I could not be bothered to put it back in the cupboard!

  5. If time and money were no object I would visit more international quilting shows as they are such an inspiration. When it comes to the actual making I generally get to do what I want to do anyway - the lack of time just means it takes a little longer and I budget carefully to be able to buy the fabrics I want.

  38. Great idea for an ironing board cover, it would never have occurred to me to do anything that pretty for my ironing board. If I had all the time I would make myself a beautiful hexagon quilt out of Liberty fabric. I do my hexagons with EPP so it would need a lot of time. Thanks for a lovely giveaway.

  77. If time and money were no object I would make a quilt for me. Every quilty/crafty project I take on is always for someone else, I've never made a quilt just for ME. So I'd buy the whole bundle of Bonnie and Camille's new line (Happy-Go-Lucky) and I'd go piece myself a quilt and pay someone to make quilt on a longarm. :)

In the mean time, I'm totally tackling a new ironing board cover with my stash. Six inch dresdens!! That's so tiny!! You've got skill... :D

  83. ooohhh. I would start painting the resin kits from japan again. They are around $80 each and shipping is expensive. I love designing quilts though, so I would also end up with a huge stash of fabric. I would also finish my applique lap quilt and the 90" sq quilt I'm working on.

    ReplyDelete

  87. If time and money were no object. I wouldcraft until I died...literally..I would join all those cool quilting classes. I would buy me a bunch of new sewing machines sew that my things would look awesome since they were being made on awesoem machines..lol...I would order and make tons of those quilt kits that come with the precut fabrics allready..I hate cutting out the pieces...The only bad part of quilting and sewing for me. Would definitely have to buy me one of those magnificient computerized long arm quilting machine contraptions and be taught how to use it. That way I would be able to quilt all those quilt kits up pronto after I made them.

If time and money were no object, I would do EVERY kind of craft I could fine -- wood carving, and longarm quilting, and lampwork. 96. Your ironing board cover would make anyone like ironing. If I had enough time and money, I would provide myself with a workspace for quilting, get a long arm machine and learn to use it. Then I would quilt all kinds of projects.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I would love to work on everything, lol...there's no way I would be able to narrow it down!

    ReplyDelete
  98. what a great giveaway. I love your iron cover too - so cute! If time and money were no object... I would focus more on tops because that is my favorite thing to work on and not feel guilty.... then I would send everything to a long-armer to be finished... including the binding (lol) - There are soo many projects that I want to do, but to have to take the time to actually quilt them (mediocrely I might add) takes away from more projects.

  146. A kindred spirit! I love to iron too! My children think I'm nuts but it is really relaxing for me. In 7th grade I gave a speech on how to iron a shirt! What a nerd! Love your Dresdens! maybe I will make an ironing board cover too!

  149. I love, love, love your ironing board cover. Mine is so hideous but I haven't been inspired to make a new one - until now. I just might have to look into this. If I had all the time and money I needed I would add a nice, big, sunny room to my house and buy a longarm. How fun that would be!

  150. What a wonderful way to keep a smile on your face while ironing! You are too clever. While I would be happy to have simple shelves built into my closet so I could access my fabric easily, given unlimited money, I'd love to have a decent sized sewing room with good lighting. I can only dream.

  151. I love you ironing board cover. If money were no object I would get a long arm and do all my own quilting.

  152. Very pretty Ironing board cover. I wouldn't mind ironing if my cover were that pretty. Was it hard to make(besides the taking apart of the old one?) I could, if money were no object, and I had better skill, finish up all the quilts I have started and been given. Maybe I will just start tomorrow....

  153. That ironing board is just adorable. Who would not want to iron if they had it to use? Great creative idea!

  154. The ironing board is awesome. If money were no object, I would make a king size quilt featuring just one fabric collection. I would also have a new serger and a long arm quilting machine.

  155. Wow what a question. I would probably make a very elaborate Baltimore Album Quilt with really wonderful fabrics.

  156. Hmm... I'd have to say a full queen size quilt out of my favourite Art Gallery Fabrics. And to make it all by myself, I'd need a new sewing machine as my baby Elna could NOT do this all by herself ;)

  157. I love your Dresden! And I need one of those covers so bad, mine has tears and rips! If I had all the money and time in the world, I would buy myself one of the best sewing machines that could practically free motion quilt by itself! And I would finally make that Farmers Wife quilt that I've wanted for so long! Complete with vintage fabrics :) Ahh, love to dream!

  159. I have a very long list of things I'd love to try that span fabrics (quilting techniques, embroidery and other hand sewing, etc) and "wet" crafts (mosaics, painting techniques, etc) and wood working, jewelry making/beading... the list just goes on and on and on LOL!

  160. What a happy cover. That will make ironing fun.

  161. I think if time and money were no object, I would have a beautiful studio that would allow me to have a place to paint, dye, and discharge fabric that wouldn't make a mess of what space I do have now. I like the idea of altering my fabric, but I really don't have the space!

  162. I would do a rainbow dear jane quilt.

  163. I am retired and now have time! If money was no object, I would still quilt anything I wanted. I'm very lucky!

  168. I love how your everyday ironing board is now so beautiful. If time were no object, I would do a lot of hand quilting. If money were no object, i would buy a lot of the fantastic voiles for making clothes.

  169. Oh I have so many dreams of things to make, but I think to start with it would be a quilt from Central Park fabric that I haven't yet been brave enough to cut into!

  171. I love your ironing board cover! You have inspired me to create a new one. If I had the time and the money, I would take several quilting classes and just totally improve so many aspects of my quilting. Then, I would donate each and every one of them. Thanks so much for sharing you project and for the give away.

  172. If time and money (and talent) were no object, I'd learn how to do stained glass which always reminds me a bit of quilting...except with glass LOL
