Yet another Owlie :)

I have to say that I absolutely love that all the children at our church call me "Nana" :)
I feel like a get to have an extra helping of grandchildren :)
It's like an extra scoop of your favorite ice cream....who's gonna say "No" to that?

Until recently, there was an entire herd of little boys at church (most of them are my grandsons) and little Miss Natalia was the only girl in the sea of testosterone! But you don't have to worry about this little beauty......she can definitely hold her own :)
It's hard to believe that she is going to be 2 years old. She has such a fun personality and she loves being a girl. She loves her dollies and she loves having a purse. I wanted to make something fun for her birthday and when I saw this adorable Owl Zipper Purse pattern in the Quilts & More magazine (Winter 2010 - got it on clearance) I knew it would be perfect! The pattern is actually made for adults, but instead of buttons for the eyes, I stitched on felt eyes and beak and I made the strap way shorter to make it more toddler friendly.
It's a super fun project to sew and I learned a new technique as well! I'll be making more of these for the shop, some with Owlie faces and some without. Makes a great cross body bag for carrying just a few items like cash or credit cards when you go shopping and don't want to carry your full sized purse. And the zipper keeps everything nice and safe :)

That reminds me.....I need to order more zippers..........
